Avoiding pick-pocketing, etc. Where to store your vitals:

Money belt (hold-up-pants-kind with internal zipper)
10 $20 bills
$100 traveler's cheques
trimmed photocopy of passport (first 2 pgs)
credit card #s
flight #s
airline #s
foreign contacts

Money belt pouch (attaches to belt by a loop and hangs inside pants)
passport
> $200 cash
visas
driver's license
3 checks from U.S. bank account
airline tickets
ATM/credit cards
duplicate list f vital info

Backpack
$40 cash
photocopies of important documents

Optional:
cash in shoe

When sleeping on trains:
Sleep on pack
Lock pack to self
Lock pack to something not movable
